This winery performed well in the difficult 2002 vintage. The outstanding, dense ruby/purple­tinged 2002 Abat Domenech is a 50­50 blend of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in slate and gravel soils. A floral­scented bouquet reveals notions of crushed rocks, acacia flowers, black raspberries, and currants. This medium­bodied, full­flavored 2002 boasts sweet fruit, good acidity, and terrific definition. Enjoy this beauty over the next 7­8 years.
