The stunning 2003 Avan Concentracion (100% Tempranillo from 80+ year old vines) offers a sumptuous bouquet of blackberries, espresso roast, pepper, lavender, and subtle wood (it spends 14 months in new French oak before being bottled unfiltered). With ripe tannin, admirable purity, and abundant amounts of gravitas, it requires another 12 months of bottle age, and should drink well for 10­12 years.
