WHAT MAKES THIS WINE UNIQUE?
The 50+ year old vineyards are located near the Camino de Santiago. This is an organic wine of place that displays the special qualities of Bierzo.

GRAPE:
100% Mencia. Organically grown vines planted since from 1900 to 1970. Vines tended in slate, clay and sand soil from 450 m (1,476 ft) to 600 m (1,969 ft) elevation.

VINIFICATION AND AGING:
Fermentation (50% whole cluster) occurs naturally utilizing indigenous yeasts and takes place in stainless tanks. The juice macerates with skins for 50 days. The wine is aged on its lees for 12 months in barrel and clay amphorae from Castilla La Mancha.

LOCATION, SOIL, CLIMATE:
The grapes are grown in the vineyards of Magaz de Abajo, Valtuille de Abajo and Camponaraya located within the region of Bierzo. The soil is composed of slate, clay and sand. The average elevation of the vineyards is 450 m (1,476 ft) to 600 m (1,969 ft). Temperature from April to October averages 20C (68F) with annual rainfall of 800mm (31.5").
