WHAT MAKES THIS WINE UNIQUE?
A wine with ancient roots made from organically-grown vines in Ozuelo, one of the highest elevation areas of Bierzo.

GRAPE:
100% Mencia. Organically grown vines planted since 1920. Vines tended in slate and sand soil from 600m (1,969 ft) elevation.

VINIFICATION AND AGING:
Whole cluster fermentation occurs naturally utilizing indigenous yeasts and takes place in chestnut vats. The juice macerates with skins for 50 days. After fining (no pumping), the wine is aged on its lees for 10 months in neutral French oak.

LOCATION, SOIL, CLIMATE:
The grapes are grown in the Ozuelo vineyards located in Pueblo de Ozuelo in the district of Ponferrada within the region of Bierzo. The soil is composed of slate and sand, The average elevation of the vineyards is 600 m (1,969 ft). Temperature from April to October averages 20C (68F) with annual rainfall of 800mm (31.5").
