ValleClaro Rosado

ValleClaro Rosado

Valleclaro Rosado is a wine made by Julio Otero in the Valles de Benavente region, located between the cities of Leon and Zamora. It is made from 100% Prieto Picudo, a grape that is beginning to attract lots of attention from winemakers and consumers. An indigenous variety from Leon, Prieto Picudo has high natural acidity and firm tannins. The grape makes first class wines with an ability to age extremely well. A surprisingly complex rosé, Valleclaro’s firm structure calls for twelve months aging for optimal enjoyment. The wine will pair well with foods that are full flavored, even steak. The area where the vineyards are located is named Valleclaro, which means ‘barren’ in English or, more precisely, ‘Clear Valley.’ Here, the day/night temperature swings are so extreme that only Prieto Picudo can grow in these climate conditions. In fact, this grape does not grow anywhere else.

What makes this wine unique?

This wine is a 100% un-oaked Prieto Picudo. It is a rosé that can age. This wine is made from a native grape from the Leon region of Spain. It produces dark, full bodied, yet bright wines. It exhibits rich fruit and intense floral aromas of violets and lilacs. This wine’s great acidity gives it a clean, refreshing sensation in the mouth.
