Winery  Wines

Proprietor : Olegario Falcon founded Bodegas Falcon in 1981 owning today 12 acres (5 Ha) of vineyard of white Albariño grapes. His first vintage was in 2005.

Winemaker / Vineyard Manager : Juan Manuel Burgos / Roberto Carlos Falcon.

Location : Zone 1, north west of Spain in the town of Corbillón- Cambados in Galicia at 131 ft altitude next to the Atlantic ocean.

Wines Made : Triskel (plus other wines not currently imported by Ole).

Climate: Zone 1, Atlantic climate, with average temperatures from April to October of of 64.4 º F (among the warmest temperatures in Rias Baixas) and 24.6 in. of rainfall which is among the highest rainfall levels in Spain. The high levels of rainfall are offset by the warm temperatures providing a healthy ripening period. and its well drained soils which avoid undesired surface humidity's.

Soils: As mentioned above, the relationship between soil and climate in this vineyard is the key factor allowing for an excellent grape growing environment. The well drained and warm granite soils allow for an outstanding equilibrium of low surface moisture which is beneficial for timely and healthy ripeness levels. Granite also happens to be low in organic material, preventing high yields, which will make these grapes more concentrated in flavor and accelerate its ripening process.

What makes Triskel unique?

* small production wines,

* made with low yielding vines,

* by the well known winemaker Juan Manuel Burgos (he makes the Avan wines in Ribera del Duero).

* Healthy ripeness levels achieved by an outstanding equilibrium between climate conditions and soil profile.

* Triskel is fermented at cool temperatures and does not undergo malolactic fermentation, allowing for greater freshness and aromatic expression.

Albariño: thick skin berries, generous in acidity, and flavor. Albariño is one of the few Spanish white grape varieties produced as a varietal and shown on labels. It is most common in the Rias Baixas region of Spain where it has become so popular that it accounts for about 90% of all the plantings and produces some of the most expensive white wines in Spain.
