RATING HISTORY:
2013 92WA; 2012 91WA & 91+IWR; 2011 91 IWC

GRAPE:
85% Viura, 10% Garnacha Blanca, 5% Malvasia. Organically and sustainably grown vines planted from 1950 - 1960. Tended in clay and limestone soil from 450 - 600 m (1,476 -1,968ft) of elevation. This is a vegan wine.

PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:
Similar to white Burgundies (Meursault, Ladoix, Saint Aubin) and northern Rhone whites (Hermitage blanc, Saint Peray, Saint Joseph blanc) with some heft and roundness, this white Rioja has the aromatic richness and firm palate presence to pair well with rich flavored seafood like grilled swordfish, red snapper or grilled calamari. This wine is also fruity and versatile enough to compliment most white meats, poultry, and many softer cow and sheep's milk cheeses.

VINIFICATION AND AGING:
Fermented in French oak barrels and aged on its lees for 12 months in French oak barrels.

PRODUCTION:
300 cases (6 pack)

LOCATION, SOIL, CLIMATE:
The vineyards are located in the Rioja region (Zone 3 and 4). The lower yields produce smaller berries with greater flavor intensity. Tended in clay, and limestone soil at 450 -600 m (1,476-1,968ft) elevation. For climate, the average temperature from April-October is 63.7F with 15.4 inches of yearly rainfall. The moderate warm days and cool nights of this Continental Atlantic climate forces the grapes to ripen slowly, producing wines that are more fresh, more aromatic and with more expressive fruit flavors.

TASTING NOTES:
It reveals a noteworthy Mediterranean influence-warm and riper fruit, dried herbs white fruit, note of passion fruit. Soft and round, almost creamy in texturewith excellent balance and elegance.
